HotRocks Grill- Mediterranean Fresh

Peachtree Corners has a new go to spot for a fresh take on "fast food" with a distinct Mediterranean flair. Recently I had a chance to speak to Sam and Julie 2 of the 3 partners and sample some of their delicious food. Sam, formerly of Basil's in Buckhead, runs the back of the house. His passion for food is evident in every dish that comes out of the kitchen, "I would never serve you something I myself would not eat." he told me over a platter of his wonderfully flavorful chicken kabobs, served over yellow rice, with a side of hummus, pita and a salad of mixed greens tossed with a homemade vinaigrette.

The trio's (partner John was unable to join us) enthusiasm for the new business and their customers is infectious. You can tell by the way Julie describes the restaurant's elegant decor and Sam talks about using the best ingredients in his delicious dishes that they have put their all into the success of this place.

When I asked Julie what the top selling item was in the few weeks they've been open, ironically it was their hamburger, an item she insisted they include on the menu. Infact, there are a variety of burgers to choose from such as a Salmon Burger and a top secret recipe veggie burger that John personally developed. I was assured in addition to being very tasty, unlike many veggie burgers, this one doesn't fall apart.

My meal was rounded out by the crispy chicken fritters which came with a piquant honey mustard aioli spiked with sriracha. The fritters were made with the house made rotisserie chicken, which like the kabobs is marinated for 24 hours and then roasted atop lava rocks over an open flame.

Finally, don't miss the garlic aioli. Request plenty of this sauce and put it on everything! It's a winner without having an overpowering garlicky flavor.

An array of salads (think ingredients like quinoa, couscous, kale and golden beets) and wraps are all on my list to try next. Sam said they are expanding their wrap menu to include some new ones, so be on the look out for those as well.

They also have a beer and wine selection, a scrumptious array of desserts (baklava is a must) and will soon offer delivery and catering. Do yourself a favor and stop by during their grand opening celebration on June 7th to sample all the goodness coming out of the kitchen and be sure to tell Sam, Julie and John I sent you,
